How to scrap your car in Gravesend

If you've got a scrap car in or near Gravesend it's easy to have it scrapped for free.

  1. Give us a ring and arrange a time for us to collect your scrap car and provide as many details as you can about the car.
  2. We collect the vehicle and the logbook at the allotted time. If you like you can send us the logbook before hand. (If you are not in possession on the logbook for the scrap car, we are still able to tow it away, but you will need to tell us beforehand and you will need to contact the DVLA in writing to let them know you are having the car scrapped.)
  3. You get section 9 of the logbook back, together with an intent of destruction certificate.
  4. You send off section 9 to the DVLA.
  5. We mail the remainder of the logbook to the DVLA, make a SORN (let them know that the car is off the road) and tell them that the vehicle can now be de-registered.
  6. Within about 4 to 6 weeks you should be notified by the DVLA.

What happens to your scrap car?

After we have towed away your scrap car we first remove any parts that may be reused in some way, this commonly includes things such as the tyres and the battery. Then we remove the catalytic converter and other parts which can be recycled. Any fuel remaining in the fuel talk is removed, any hazardous parts are also removed from your scrap car. Finally, the vehicle is crushed.
